• How does Nordic Ice compare to other synthetic skating surfaces?

Nordic Ice is the fastest!Skating speed has helped make it the product of choice for professional skaters. Nordic Ice is quick and easy to adjust to - most skaters acclimate within ten minutes. Nordic Ice is available in a variety of panel styles and is designed for outdoor or indoor use!

• Can Nordic Ice be used instead of conventional ice?

Yes, Nordic Ice can be used instead of conventional ice if for example the winter is mild and the cost for maintaining an outdoor surface is to high. When it comes to sports our product is the perfect compliment to conventional ice, where you can practice skating, stick and puck handling techniques. The surface demands slightly more skate pressure and balance, giving a skater the perfect strength training. When returning to regular ice the skater now has a sensation of flying over the ice. Just a small surface can be used for puck shooting and goaltending practice.

• Will it work above freezing?

Nordic Ice is manufactured from special synthetic polymers so its surface can be enjoyed year-round and in all temperatures. Developed for indoor/outdoor use, Nordic Ice panels are sturdy, UV-stable and stress relieved so they won't degrade in sunlight or warp as temperatures increase or decrease.

• Will it work for hockey?

Hockey skating maneuvers are easy on Nordic Ice. The puck responds as it would on conventional ice, so you can practice all of your hockey moves from stops to slap shots to goal tending. You will find Nordic Ice installed in a number of hockey clubs and sports facilities, as well as family homes in basements, backyards and even bonus rooms. Many new hockey and figure skating training facilities are opening and are all using the Nordic Ice products.

• Will it work for figure skating?

YES! Many professional figure skaters request Nordic Ice surfaces in show venues where they want the best. More forgiving than conventional ice, Nordic Ice can enhance training and enable you to perform all jumps, spins and figure skating maneuvers with ease.

• Do I need special skates?

No. Nordic Ice was designed for use with regular hockey skates and figure skates. To reduce friction and enhance performance, simply keep your skate blades sharpened and apply Super-Glide Enhancer occasionally for extra glide and speed.

• How much does it cost to maintain?

Nordic Ice is almost maintenance free. Keep the surface clean and apply our Super Glide Enhancer as needed - That's it!

• How is it shipped?

Nordic Ice is carefully loaded on pallets and shipped using common freight carriers. Shipping should not be a major consideration. Freight rates are low for these products.

• Where can I install Nordic Ice?

Nordic Ice can be installed on any flat surface capable of supporting the weight of the panels and skaters. Hard surfaces like basement floors, garage floors or tennis courts are typical installation sites. Panels can also be installed on hardwood floors or asphalt parking lots. In some situations compacted earth has been used successfully.

• How long will Nordic Ice last?

Nordic Ice panels are constructed of a solid, skatable, polymer mixture throughout its entire thickness! Both sides are skatable. As Nordic Ice becomes scratched from normal skating use, skating speeds increase! The surface skates better the more you use it! The life span of Nordic Ice is dependent on the amount of use, but is normally many years per side.
